Kisii County Governor Simba Arati held a meeting with officials from the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK), led by CEO Batram Muthoka, to discuss ongoing plans to relocate the ASK Southern Kenya Branch from Gusii Stadium to Nyatieko area.
The relocation is intended to pave the way for the expansion and modernization of Gusii Stadium. This development follows Governor Arati’s recent visit to State House, where President William Ruto pledged support for several key projects in the region. These include the stadium’s expansion, the construction of 15,000 affordable housing units, and the establishment of four new markets.
Once complete, the expanded stadium will offer enhanced facilities to host a broader range of sporting activities, reinforcing Governor Arati’s continued dedication to identifying and nurturing emerging talents. This initiative aligns with his commitment to advancing local sports and fulfilling his campaign promises to empower the youth by providing greater access to high-quality sporting infrastructure and opportunities.
Meanwhile, the relocation of the ASK Southern Kenya branch to Nyatieko will provide the society with adequate space for exhibitions. The Branch will begin a stakeholder engagement process to inform and involve its partners including exhibitors, tenants, and other stakeholders, about the planned relocation
In the meeting, the Governor was accompanied by his Deputy H.E. Elijah Obebo, County Secretary Earnest Osoro, County Executive Committee (CEC) Member in charge of Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development Grace Nyarango, the department’s Chief Officer Dr. Kennedy Ombaba, Legal Advisor Dr. Ken Omanga, the County Solicitor Lydiah Kwamboka, among other officers.
The ASK team comprised the Branch Manager Rose Sharon, Treasurer Richard Manyange, Kefa Onduso, Susan Seron of the Eldoret branch, Caren Jaguga, among other officers.
Later, the team visited the Nyatieko site where they interacted with the locals. They were received by the area Deputy County Commissioner Joyce Koech.
