Overview

The Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) is a referral and teaching hospital providing specialized clinical services, training, and research. The Hospital is an accredited training site of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA).

Applications are invited for full-time, residential training in the COSECSA Membership of the College of Surgeons (MCS) programme in General Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery (two years), and the Fellowship of the College of Surgeons (FCS) programme in General Surgery (three years). Proof of financial support from the employer, county government, or self for the full duration of training is mandatory. No salary or compensation is attached to these training positions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMEMS

All Applicants

  1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), or an equivalent qualification.
  2. Current KMPDC registration, annual retention certificate and valid practicing license.
  3. Evidence of sponsorship or financial support from the employer, county government or self.
  4. Two recommendation letters: one from the immediate supervisor and one from the hospital clinical head, such as the Medical Superintendent or equivalent.
  5. Application letter stating the programme applied for and the applicant’s career interest.
  6. Valid professional indemnity cover and medical cover for the duration of training.

Additional requirement for FCS General Surgery applicants

  1. COSECSA Membership (MCS) in General Surgery, or an equivalent postgraduate surgical qualification recognized by COSECSA.
