The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Dr. Fred Matiang’i has hailed the good working relationship between County and National Government officials in Kisii.
Speaking at Kereri Girls where he opened a dormitory and a borehole, the said the County and National Government teams in Kisii had reached the ideal level of collaboration envisaged in the constitution.
He thanked Governor James Ongwae and County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi who were present at the function for their seamless engagement and working relationship.
“I thank the Governor for the good work he is doing in Kisii County. We have an ideal harmony in Kisii. County and National Governments need to work together because we serve the same people. We shall give the necessary support to the governor to ensure he delivers on his mandate,” said Matiang’i.
He cited the recent International Youth Day celebrations and the development of the Gusii Stadium as some of the good work that was a reference point nationally. The CS thanked Kisii leaders led by the governor for demonstrating leadership during the recent incident at Kenyenya where two people were shot dead by police.
On his part, Governor Ongwae said what was important was service delivery hence the need to work closely with National Government teams to meet expectations of mwananchi.
“As a County, we realize that Kenya is one indivisible nation. This is why we have supported National Government initiatives including construction of two police stations. We shall continue with this collaboration,” he said.
Other leaders at the function included Speaker David Kombo, Majority Leader Timothy Ogugu and a host of MCAs.
The leaders urged the ministry of education to do everything in their means to protect the integrity of the forthcoming national examinations.
