Governor Ongwae committed to promote staff improvement programme

Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has undertaken to implement the policies initiated by the World Bank funded Kenya Devolution Support Programme (KDSP)in the County.

The County benefitted to a tune of KShs. 50 million in the last financial year to facilitate the trainings of county staff in various cadres at the Kenya School of Government.

Speaking when he received a team from KDSP who are in the County to access the progress of the donor funded staff capacity building grant, the Governor committed to ensure that the funds are diligently used to achieves the desired results.

“I am particularly keen on capacity building among my staff members and the world bank/KDSP initiative is such a welcome move,” said the Governor.

The team led by Thomas Kirongo from Prestige Management Solutions consultancy are out to assess the impact of KDSP in the county on behalf of the World Bank.

Ongwae expressed confidence that the initial effort in staff training has been satisfactory and will therefore attract more funds to benefit all county employees to enhance service delivery.

Through the grant, a number of employees in the county government have undertaken requisite refresher and managerial courses at KSG and this is poised to boost service delivery.

He further committed to implement the performance based staff appraisal saying his workforce up to the level of departmental directors have already signed performance contracts while middle level managers will be put to a performance based appraisal system from next year.
